Connotea / box.net mashup
The basics
This plugin adds file upload / download functionality to Connotea. It runs in your browser and makes use of your account on a free, 3rd party file hosting provider (box.net, more on this below).
Once installed you will be able to attach files to your Connotea bookmarks (one file per bookmark). The plugin only works on the 'Your Library' page.
To use it you must be running Firefox with the Greasemonkey extension installed. There is no support for Internet Explorer.
How to get started
- Make sure that you are running Firefox.
- Install the Greasemonkey extension if you haven't already.
Then...
- Sign up for a free account with box.net. Remember your username and password.
- Download and install the boxnet.user.js greasemonkey script.
- Go to your Connotea library. You will see an 'upload file' icon underneath each of your bookmarks.
- The first time that you click on an upload or download link you'll be taken to a page on box.net. Enter your box.net username and password from step 1. After this you'll be returned to your library page.
- You can now upload and download files using the links underneath your bookmarks. The first time that you upload a file you'll be prompted for your Connotea username and password - make sure that you check the 'remember this username and password' checkbox in the login window.
- That's it, you're done: attach, download and remove files at will.
